Stella Zakharova is a Ukrainian gymnast, Olympic champion in the USSR gymnastics team. She won Olympic gold in the 1980 team event. The first victory awaited Stella Zakharov at the All-Union School Games in 1976. In the same year she took second place at the USSR Youth Championship. The most successful year for Zakharova was 1979, during which she won the individual championship at the America's Cup, the Moscow News tournament and the World Cup. In 1980, Zakharova won gold with the team at the Moscow Olympics and won the second title of absolute champion at the World Cup. It turned out to be the peak of her career, because since 1981, her performances have become less successful. After the end of her sports career, Stella Zakharova married a football player of the Dynamo Kyiv team Viktor Khlus. The couple had a son and a daughter. The annual Stella Zakharova Cup, named after her, is held in Ukraine. In 2016 she became the winner of the All-Ukrainian award "Woman of the III millennium" in the nomination "Rating". Today Stella Zakharova is the president of the international charity fund "Sports and Children"
