On July 14, the "Plaza of the Stars," which is a symbol of recognition, support and promotion of national culture, art and sports appeared
three bright stars of sport. The first opened in honor of the outstanding hockey player Alexei Zhitnik, who devoted more than 40 years to professional hockey, spent 21 seasons at a high level, Olympic champion and silver medalist of the 1998 Olympics and the 1992 World Championship. The second - in honor of Lidiya Solovyova - Ukrainian Paralympian, powerlifter, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, Paralympian champion in 2004, 2008 and 2016, silver medalist in 2000, bronze medalist of the Paralympic Games in London in 2012 and the third for Alexei Mikhailichenko - Ukrainian footballer, Ukrainian coach and functionary, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and Honored Coach of Ukraine. The sports stars emerged thanks to several stages. First - the recommendations of the expert committee, including representatives of Gulliver, GO Spilna peremoga, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NOC. The second one is availability of these very candidates' awards and recognition in professional sphere, presence in media space and in ratings of popularity. Also once a year there is a poll among the public and visitors to the mall, and based on the results the committee makes the final list of stars.
When Ukrainian soccer player Olexii Mykhailychenko got the star on the "Square of Stars" he said: "Each victory is a certain triumph, a step forward. It is an interesting fact: I managed to win the gold of different championships, the Olympics, but there are practically no individual prizes in my portfolio. In the end, I'm not vain - Lobanovskyi taught me to act solely in the interests of the team.
Tatiana Atadjanova, PR Director of Mall Gulliver as a representative of the main initiator of the social project "Square of Stars" noted: "The aim of the project "Square of Stars" is to become generally recognized and loved by everybody, because it educates new generation by reminding them about famous Ukrainian people and motivates teenagers to follow their goal and achieve success".
On July 14, 2021 laid 67, 68 ta 69 stars on the "Star Square" and it is 39, 40 ta 41 stars on the part of "Sports".
Reference: "Square of Stars" is all-Ukrainian social project which purpose is support and popularization of national culture, art and sports. In the center of the city "light up" stars outstanding Ukrainian, people who have reached the best results in their work in three categories: THEATRE / CINEMA, MUSIC, SPORT. Memorial signs located along L. Street, Esplanade Street and Sports Square. They are made of brass with the size of 30 cm by 60 cm and have an index of the laureate's contribution (movies, music, sports) and a QR code that leads to the project page and tells about the achievements of the laureate. Now the citizens and visitors of Kiev can come, look and take photos with the name "stars" of the people who are considered to be famous in Ukraine. "Star Square" is called to become a pride and a reminder for every Ukrainian about the great achievements of our compatriots, to stimulate the development of the city and the nation as a whole, to become a cultural heritage for the future generations.
